It’s in your power to make healthy choices. Whether you are a pre-transplant or post-transplant patient, healthy living is important for your quality of life and for a successful transplant. In this program, the UW Health transplant team will offer guidance and resources to help you establish and achieve healthy living goals related to nutrition and exercise. Topics covered during the program will include:
- Strategies for healthy meal and snack choices
- Setting goals and making changes that are sustainable
- Tips for increasing your daily activity and how to begin a routine
- Exercise ideas based on your goals, activity level, and mobility
- Suggestions on how and when to start exercise after transplant
- The body’s connection between nutrition and exercise
- A cooking demonstration of healthy choices by a UW transplant nutritionist, including a tasting at the end of the program

Attend the inaugural Wisconsin Community-Academic KidneyCon evening.
Enjoy a unique evening hosted by the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin in collaboration with physicians from the Divisions of Nephrology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The goal of the evening is to bring community nephrologists and related nephrology professionals together with nephrologists from Wisconsin’s academic centers. The purpose is to provide a forum to share opinions and perspectives over dinner. The evening program will consist of two topics requiring interactive audience participation and collaborative problem solving. The two topics that will be explored are “An Affair of the Heart: LVADS and The Nephrologist” and “What Makes It Right? Ethical Considerations in Withdrawing Dialysis”.
The evening will begin with a reception at 5:30, followed by dinner (6:30pm) and the program (7:00pm).

- A Donor Mom’s Perspective on Donation
- In recognition of Donate Life Month.
Dawn’s daughter, Emily, was an eye, organ and tissue donor – giving the gift of sight to two people here in Wisconsin, saving the lives of six people through organ donation, and improving the lives of more than 60 people through tissue donation.
