LIVING DONORS TOGETHER invites you to celebrate Donate Life Month by joining living kidney donors, Brenda Cortez and Michelle Schuerman, at an in-person meet up event. It is a space to chat about your connection to transplantation, interest in organ donation and more.

We will be celebrating the two-year anniversary of the book “Because of Organ Donation”! We are also hoping to have the new book “Because of Organ Donation-Pediatric Stories” available. Signed copies will be available for sale as will as Howl the Owl books.

Pause to Give Life 2024

West Bend Community Memorial Library

630 Poplar St, West Bend, WI 53095

Monday, April 10

Flag Raising at 1:08 PM

Reception to Follow

Join us as we celebrate National Donate Life Month by participating in a statewide Donate Life flag-raising ceremony and moment of silence to honor donors and their families and promote the mission of organ, tissue and eye donation.

We will raise the Donate Life flag at 1:08 PM to highlight the fact that 1 donor can save 8 lives. We will then observe a moment of silence for 1 minute and 4 seconds to recognize the more than 104,000 patients waiting for a life-saving transplant.

Join us in-person at this free event, or by contributing your story of organ donation to our community stories collection. A selection of these stories will be displayed at the library through the month of April.

Did you know that you don’t have to be a direct match to become a living donor? You don’t even have to wait until your loved one with kidney disease needs a transplant to protect them in the future. Join NKFW’s Living Donors Together April meeting for a special presentation on how paired exchange, donor chains, and non-directed living organ donation can help help save multiple lives and ensure transplant recipients get the best possible match. Stick around after the presentation for an open forum discussion about living organ donation and connect with others navigating this journey.

LIVING DONORS TOGETHER is a program of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin. This virtual community of living donors or anyone interested in living donation to learn, network and find support. Caregivers, healthcare professionals or patients interested in living donation are encouraged to participate in this informal conversation.
