Spring Sprints – Milwaukee
A Run/Walk with Donations Benefitting
the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin
Spring is on its way and maybe you want to get outdoors doing your favorite activities. Bodies Race Company have planned three upcoming Run/Walks for Milwaukee. The first one is the Spring Sprints on Saturday, May 14 at 8AM CDT. Participants can choose to run or walk either a 5K or 10K route within Veterans Park located along the shores of Lake Michigan. Enjoy the cooling breezes off the lake while running/walking, but don’t be surprised if you have ducks from the pond accompanying in hopes of getting some pieces of bread or go off course and run through the sands of Bradford Beach. Come celebrate the arrival of Spring and support the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin.
Although the Spring Sprints are not an exclusive National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin event, Bodies Race Company has selected the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin as its charitable organization partner for the three upcoming events. Enter the PROMO CODE KIDNEY when registering and your registration fee will be donated back to the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin.
The Spring Sprints Run/Walk is part of the Bodies Race Company’s multi-event Seasons Series of Run/Walks. The Seasons Series also includes the Summer Sizzler (July 30) and the Fall Finish (September 17) run/walks all located in Milwaukee. Want to do all three events. There is a special seasonal bundle registration available until May 14 of $90 for all three events.
For more details about the Spring Sprints run/walk, view the Fundraising by Other Groups page.
Register TODAY for Spring Sprints or all three run/walks. Registration for the Spring Sprints increases April 18. Don’t forget the promo code KIDNEY to have your registration fee be a donation to the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin.

- Living Donation – April is Donate Life Month
- This is a special Donate Life Month program.
- Help kick off April as Donate Life Month by being a part of the first Living Donors Together meetup for 2022. 106,309 people are waiting for an organ transplant and 85% of them are waiting for a kidney!
Speaker: John Hacker
Donate Life Wisconsin Representative
John will share the various activities planned by Donate Life Wisconsin and its partners throughout the state aimed at increasing awareness of the need for organ, eye and tissue donation. These activities are also organized to encourage people to advocate for more donor support, especially by signing up to be a donor with the Orange Donor Dot on their drivers license. Attend and be inspired to organize your own awareness and advocacy event or presentation in April, or any time throughout the year when an opportunity arises.

Plan Your Own Capital City Run Walk Hike or Ride Event
Traditionally the evening of the last Saturday in July has been the day for the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin’s Capital City 5K Run/Walk in Madison starting at Capitol Square, going along Lake Monona and ending at Goodman Park with a pool party. Last year the event was held virtually on a route of your developing along with a morning warmup live-streamed presentation and an evening live-streamed closing presentation.
This year the run/walk is a month-long event of tallying 434 miles or more in any combination of running, walking, biking or hiking along routes of your choosing. The 434 mile goal is in recognition of the 434 kidney transplants performed in Wisconsin in 2020.
Would you rather continue the tradition of a one-day event? Great! Get a team together or do a run, walk, bike or hike outing on your own. Plan a route of your choosing and your distance and do the Capital City Run/Walk your way on Saturday, July 31. Then watch the live-streamed closing celebration on Facebook Live or through the Zoom link at 6pm CDT.
Don’t forget to record your miles!
Registration is still open.

Cool Beans Adventure Bonus Day:
Add A Zero to Your Total
The end of the Cool Beans Adventure in support of the work of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin is almost at an end. It’s Walking Wednesday and there are only four days left. If you have as few as 44 miles at the end of today you can still achieve the 434 miles goal of the Cool Beans Adventure. Add a zero to the end of your total miles. 44 becomes 440 miles and you met the Cool Beans Adventure challenge. Congratulations!
Wondering how to add the zero to your miles? You are actually multiplying your miles by 10! First make a “results” entry for any miles you completed today. Multiply the total miles at the end of the day by 9. Make another “results” entry for this number and give it a description of “Adding 0 to total”. If you compare this new total to the total you had initially at the end of today, your new total should be the initial total with a “0” at the end.
Let’s keep walking, running, biking and hiking to keep those miles adding up.

Cool Beans Adventure Bonus Day:
Add Your Dog’s Miles
When you head out to add miles for your Cool Beans Adventure in support of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin, do you take your four legged companion along? Today the miles your dog accompanied you on your run, walk, bike or hike can be added to your total. When you get home don’t forget to reward your dog for his/her wonderful companionship with water and/or a well deserved special treat along with hydrating yourself.
Be sure to add his/her miles to your results as an additional “results” entry!

Cool Beans Adventure Bonus Day:
Double Your Total Miles
Get out and run, walk, bike or hike as part of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin’s Cool Beans Adventure to add as many new miles to your total as you can. Maybe try a new route or explore someplace you have never been before. At the close of the day, your new miles plus all those hard earned miles you have traveled thus far in July will be doubled!
Your miles will not be doubled automatically for you. To get the additional miles you need to make a new “results” entry that is equal to the total number of miles you have recorded at the end of the day, July 22. Add “Double Day” in the description to remind yourself why this entry was made.
NOTE: If you did not double your miles for the previous Double Day on July 11, do that before doubling your miles on July 22. Simply add the number of miles you entered through the end of the day July 11 and create a new “results” entry for those total miles. Possibly add “July 11 Double Day miles” in the description to explain why that entry was made. Then take the new total you have at the end of the day July 22 and create another “result” entry with a description of “July 22 Double Day miles”. If you have any questions or problems, email Susan Hjelsand.
