2018 Spotlight on Life Portraits 2018 Spotlight on Life Dancers 2018 Spotlight on Life Guests & Volunteers

In 1968, a handful of Wisconsin nephrologists, transplant surgeons, business leaders, and concerned family members came together to save the lives of those who were affected by kidney failure. From their united desire to share information on successful treatments and fund research, the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin was born!

50 years later, the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin annually celebrates the many miracles that have been achieved in transplantation AND the legacy of life that has been created through organ, tissue, and eye donation.

SPOTLIGHT ON LIFE pays tribute to the medical professionals, family members, and volunteers who have contributed to the life-saving education, research, and advocacy efforts of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin over the past 50 years!

Dance Competition

Since the first gala in 2011, one of the highlights of the SPOTLIGHT ON LIFE fundraising gala has been the inter-organizational dance competition.

The dance competition is live streamed so patient and families, no matter where they are in world, can watch live as the dancers express their common passion and commitment to one mutual goal - saving and enhancing lives.

A special group of music, dance, and Wisconsin donation historians serve as a panel of judges. Each dancer is eligible for awards based on technical skills and personal passion for donation and transplantation, along with the People's Choice Award for the most votes/money raised in support of the mission of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin.

Each year the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin has been honored to have the Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Wisconsin as an event partner. Fred Astaire Studios' partnership with the Wisconsin affiliate of the National Kidney Foundation began in 2010 when they helped create the ballroom dance competition as a new event in the National Kidney Foundation's U.S. Transplant Games. The first ballroom dance competition occurred during the 2010 Games held in Madison, Wisconsin.
