8th Annual Spotlight on Life Gala and Dance Competition

Saturday, January 27, 2018

Milwaukee Hilton City Center
509 West Wisconsin Avenue
Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53203

In 1968, a handful of Wisconsin nephrologists, transplant surgeons, business leaders, and concerned family members came together to save the lives of those who were affected by kidney failure. From their united desire to share information on successful treatments and fund research, the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin was born!

Now, 50 years later, the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin invites you to join in the celebration of the many miracles that have been achieved in transplantation AND the legacy of life that has been created through organ, tissue, and eye donation.

By being a part of the SPOTLIGHT ON LIFE, you are paying tribute to the medical professionals, family members, and volunteers who have contributed to the life-saving education, research, and advocacy efforts of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin over the past 50 years!

Dance Competition

Since its beginning in 2011, one of the highlights of the SPOTLIGHT ON LIFE fundraising gala has been the inter-organizational dance competition.

By live-streaming the dance competition, patients and families, no matter where they are in the world, can watch live as dancers express their common passion and commitment to one mutual goal - saving and enhancing lives.

A special panel of music, dance, and Wisconsin donation historians will serve on the judging panel. Each dancer is eligible for awards in several categories including technical skills and personal passion for donation and transplantation, along with the People's Choice Award for the most votes/money raised in support of the mission of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin.

The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin is honored to have the Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Wisconsin as an event partner. Fred Astaire Studios' partnership with the Wisconsin affiliate of the National Kidney Foundation began in 2010 when they helped create the ballroom dance competition as a new event in the National Kidney Foundation's U.S. Transplant Games. The first ballroom dance competition occurred during the 2010 Games held in Madison, Wisconsin.

Can you donate an auction item?
As part of the event, the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin features a silent auction of unique experiences or items to help raise money to support our transplant and living donor educational programs. One of a kind items or unique experiences are on the top of our auction Wish List.

No matter where you live, you can review and purchase something from our Amazon Wish List to be used for the auction. Some items will be auctioned as stand alone items and others will be used as part of a "package" item.  Make your donation go further with AmazonSmile.  Sign in and choose NKFW as your charity.  An additional 0.5% of your eligible purchase will benefit NKFW.

Do you work for or know of a business, restaurant, hotel, or resort that might donate an item? Download our Auction Donation Form and help us reach our 50th Anniversary fundraising goal!
