THE DIALYSIS JOURNEY-Learning Together
Thursday, October 26, 2017

The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin was proud to partner with the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Surgery to present a half day program on dialysis and vascular access for kidney patients, their family members and caregivers, and the medical professionals involved in their care.

DIALYSIS PATIENTS

Learned how to:
take care of their access to  get the best dialysis
tell caregivers how to help them
deal with the up’s and down’s of being on dialysis

FAMILY MEMBERS

Learned how to:
get insurance questions answered
find new caregiving and dialysis resources
support their loved one

Having patients and medical professionals attend together was viewed as an excellent opportunity to hear each other’s perspective on the dialysis process. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity for informal interaction between patients and medical professionals. Patients and family members left with feelings of hope and optimism.

The speakers’ PowerPoint presentations will be posted as permission to do so is received.
